Me again. I've let the 8.10 system sit up and running for some time now ... once I got it to complete the boot process noted the freeze-up above ... and the double-tap-grab seems to be fixed.
But, unless I find solutions for the boot-up issue of 8.10, I'm going to restore my image of 8.04, because the double-tap-grab is not as nearly important as the system booting up properly and cleanly.
