Hi Bryce...
Well, before everything went to hell....
I had to reinstall. Once I did, I allowed synaptic to download 170 some
odd packages.
I then installed Thunderbird to get me mail back. (I was able to recover
my files...)

I then downloaded the "libc6-dev" package in order for the nvidia
installer to do it's thing.
It did, and, as before, as soon as I restarted GDM, I got the nvidia
logo and my screen went to it's native 1680x1050 resolution.
Now, in order for this test to be done, I rebooted, and I was right back
to the "low res requestor" screen. I am now in an 800x600 mode.

I have attached the log file you requested, and also the output lspci
-vvmm

While it's a nuisance, I know that I get the nvidia back by using the
same procedure as before. If I can be of any further assistance, let me
know. I can do nothing but learn from the experience!
