Hi Bryce... Well, before everything went to hell.... I had to reinstall. Once I did, I allowed synaptic to download 170 some odd packages. I then installed Thunderbird to get me mail back. (I was able to recover my files...)
I then downloaded the "libc6-dev" package in order for the nvidia installer to do it's thing. It did, and, as before, as soon as I restarted GDM, I got the nvidia logo and my screen went to it's native 1680x1050 resolution. Now, in order for this test to be done, I rebooted, and I was right back to the "low res requestor" screen. I am now in an 800x600 mode. I have attached the log file you requested, and also the output lspci -vvmm While it's a nuisance, I know that I get the nvidia back by using the same procedure as before. If I can be of any further assistance, let me know. I can do nothing but learn from the experience! ** Attachment added: "log4Bryce" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/19480680/log4Bryce ** Attachment added: "lspci4Bryce" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/19480681/lspci4Bryce ** Attachment added: "MeAndL39Small.jpg" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/19480682/MeAndL39Small.jpg -- nvidia graphics driver 177.8 works fine, then disappear on reboot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/294936 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
