The update service told me this morning that five updates were
available.  Two of these updates are suspect, so I ran the updated
without selecting the suspect items.  The update seemed to work
correctly.  I then tried one of the suspect updates, an update for
"gnome-icon-theme".  It failed, and gave me these error messages:

E: /var/cache/apt/archives/gnome-icon-theme_2.24.0-0ubuntu1_all.deb:
unable to make backup symlink for
`./usr/share/icons/gnome/scalable/mimetypes/spreadsheet.svg'

and later on
