** Description changed:

clean installation of ubuntu 8.10 on acer aspire 5530g
udevd takes about 3-5 % of cpu, but increases to over 50% (after hour or so)

  I have tried following:
  removed ATI binary drivers
  removed ath5k from linux-backports-modules-2.6.27-7-generic
(now I have none binary drivers loaded)

log files /var/log/* doesn't contain anything udev specific
+
+
+ udevmonitor shows tons of these messages each second:
+
+ udevmonitor will print the received events for:
+ UDEV the event which udev sends out after rule processing
+ UEVENT the kernel uevent
