What happens when you open a terminal window and type 'wine
/home/USERNAME/.wine/drive_c/windows/notepad.exe'? (of course, USERNAME
is replaced with your username)
Does notepad open or not?
If it opens, then we'll move to step two.
If it doesn't open, then there is a problem with wine or it's configuration.
