I had Hardy working correctly.   When I upgraded to Intrepid, it won't boot to 
X.
It dumped me on the command line.

After I filed the bug, I installed Kubuntu over the failed install
(didn't reformat) and it worked fine.

I suspect the issue was due to the leftover restricted ATI driver from Hardy.
Could you please point me to some material that details the changes to the 
ATI driver ?  
Would upgrading from Hardy to Intrepid remove the restricted ATI driver ?
