Other than that it's the same hardware, and same driver, no not related.
Anyway, could you post the output of this command?

Also, coud you try sticking back
the /usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/98smart-kernel-suspend hook and trying
this:
pm-suspend --quirk-s3-mode --quirk-s3-bios
