Public bug reported:

Hi,

yesterday I installed 6.06 LTS for the first time.
It didn't ask me whether I have static or dynamic Ip addresses and just assumed
DHCP, which didn't work since I don't have that. In effect the installation was
quite broken, the translations were not downloaded, all repositories in adept
where disabled.

I tried again and setup the network manually from the live CD before starting
the installer.
This helped, but a newbie wouldn't have managed this.
I think either the installer should ask for static/dynamic IP address, or fall
back to static IP address setup if DHCP fails, or at least a prominent hint
should be given that before starting the installer you have to setup your
static IP address as required.

Alex
