For me, all the hard drive partitions in nautilus display eject icons, but are unable to be unmounted by the non-root user. Attempts to hit the eject icon result in the "Cannot unmount volume" message. I think that such partitions should either not display the unusable eject icon, or require the unlocking administrative password.
