At the Celestia forums we have already had one bug report related to this issue: http://www.shatters.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=13178 -- however the problem is with the odd way that the Ubuntu developers have decided to handle the packages for Celestia.
The reason that the textures are missing is that they are in the package celestia-common-nonfree. As far as I am aware the decision to split Celestia's datafiles in this way has been taken without consulting the Celestia development team. The problem is that this package is not installed when Celestia is installed via the Add/Remove menu. This behaviour is bizarre: why would the average user want an incomplete installation? If the licenses are a problem, move the entire program to nonfree. -- Missing jpg-textures in Celestia https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/291681 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
