Binary package hint: kde
Hitting Alt-F2 against a blank desktop and typing "menu" on an up-to-
date Intrepid 8.10 install (nvidia closed source driver used but this
may not be relevant) results in a well-formed window with rounded
corners that degrades after a short delay into repeated images of the
command line entry field.
There is no app shown in the Run window starting with "menu" so this is
probably associated with no selection being possible.
