The floppy drive has the activity led always on, and does not show up on Gnome
at all.
As alienexplorers suggested on bug 290587, the floppy drive can be accessed with
sudo modprobe floppy
followed by
sudo mount /dev/fd0 /media/floppy0
(given that /media/floppy0 exists).
