The same bug is on all kernel compiled with gcc 4.1.x (No ubuntu bug so)
I tried:
Debian 4.0 Etch - kernel 2.6.17-2 compiled with gcc 4.1.2 BUGGED
Mandriva 2007 - kernel 2.6.17 compiled with gcc 4.1.1 BUGGED
Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy - kernel 2.6.17 compiled with gcc 4.1.2 BUGGED
and:
Knoppix 5.10 - kernel 2.6.17 compiled with gcc 4.0.4 *NO* BUGGED
Ubuntu 6.06 Dapper - kernel 2.6.15 compiled with gcc 4.0.3 *NO* BUGGED
Later, on Debian 4.0 Etch:
1) I compiled my self the kernel 2.6.18_3 with gcc 4.1.2 and it's does not work
with my SATA HD on /dev/sdb
2) I compiled my self the kernel 2.6.18_3 with gcc 4.0.4 and it works well with
my SATA HD on /dev/sdb
