Binary package hint: gtk-qt-engine-kde4
When I use gtk-qt-engine-kde4 1:1.1+svn20080816-0ubuntu4~hardy1~ppa1 to
select either "Use my KDE style in GTK applications" or "Use another
style: Qt4", gvim hangs on start. When I hit ctrl-c it reports "ICE
default IO error handler doing an exit(), pid = 11219, errno = 4".
However, if I set the style to Raleigh, it works fine. All other GTK
programs I've tried work fine with Qt4. I've tried moving .gvim* and
.vim* out of my home directory to make it start "clean", but it made no
difference. I've attached the strace of gvim up until hang with the Qt4
style and can do the same for gvim until successfully starting with the
Raleigh style if necessary. For quick reference, the end of the strace
with Qt4 is given as follows:
poll([{fd=3, events=POLLIN}, {fd=10, events=POLLIN, revents=POLLIN}], 2, 0) = 1
poll([{fd=3, events=POLLIN}, {fd=10, events=POLLIN, revents=POLLIN}], 2, 0) = 1
read(4, "\1\3\0\1\1\0\0\0", 8) = 8
read(4, "\1\0\0\000106b", 8) = 8
write(4, "\1\10\1\0\0\0\0\0", 8) = 8
poll([{fd=3, events=POLLIN}, {fd=10, events=POLLIN, revents=POLLIN}], 2, 0) = 1
poll([{fd=3, events=POLLIN}, {fd=10, events=POLLIN, revents=POLLIN}], 2, 0) = 1
read(4, "\1\22\0\1\0\0\0\0", 8) = 8
poll([{fd=3, events=POLLIN}, {fd=10, events=POLLIN, revents=POLLIN}], 2, 0) = 1
poll([{fd=3, events=POLLIN}, {fd=10, events=POLLIN, revents=POLLIN}], 2, 0) = 1
read(4, <unfinished ...>
ICE default IO error handler doing an exit(), pid = 11219, errno = 4
Earlier, file handle 4 is established via:
connect(4, {sa_family=AF_FILE, path="/tmp/.ICE-unix/8849"}, 21) = 0
Please let me know what other information might be helpful.
