  Since I made an update to my packages via apt, I can't install or ever
- re-update my packages using the "apt-get update" commad or trying to

  When I want to install a new package the apt based software will
  download the packages and try to install them, but then the following
  messages in the attachment appear.
  
  Note: this is a FRESH install of ubuntu 8.04, from the live CD.
