It's not very user friendly to have no error message or message
informing the user that they need libdvdcss2.

So... why is it then that when a user tries to play an mp3 file they are
prompted to install the necessary lib files, but this doesn't happen
when playing a DVD???

Surely for Ubuntu to 'just work' this has to change?
