Thank you for your bug report. I can confirm this, although I think the
better solution is to implement a check in the acpi-support script to
see if pccardctl exists and is executable, then make pcmciautils a
suggests of acpi-support (as opposed to a depends or recommends).
The /etc/network/run problem is bug 295544
