I had the same problem here after upgrading to inteprid. solved it by opening gconf-editor and browsed to /system/networking/wireless/networks/%ssidname% and reset wep_auth_algorithm (I think the value before changing was 12). (Setting wep_auth_algorithm to 1 also works for me). After next reconnect to the desired network I used the "old" wep (ascii) key with "wep 64/128-bit key" enabled.
