What I noticed was that a few trivial toolbar customizations (lose the
home button, add new tab button, move search box up to the underutilized
menu bar to leave more room for displaying rechere URLs) would work
fine... until I closed and restarted Firefox.  I also use tabmix plus,
and am happy to report that disabling the Ubuntu extension, which I must
agree has never deliverd any visible benefit to me, seems to have fixed
the problem.  Kudos for that suggestion, but why the heck can't we just
rip the useless extension out and be done with it?  The house of cards
that is a usable Firefox install is flakey enough without adding another
source of problems for no visible benefit.
