Thanks for the detailed explanation about PPM, PGM, PBMs.

There are about 16 images in question (including original file).

1) [screenshot-for1.png] screen shot of file browser shows that it can open all
16 of them.
2) [screenshot-for2.png] screen shot of GIMP shows that 12 files are opened in
GIMP. the four remaining are
    2.1) logo-resized-binary.pgm
    2.2) logo-resized-binary.ppm
    2.3) logo-cropped-binary.ppm
    2.4) logo-cropped-binary.pgm
3) [screenshot-for3.png] For the above four binary files, the screen shot of
the error is also attached. It says "Invalid Maximum Value"
4) [screenshot-for4.png] I tried to view this in gthumb-image-viewer as well.
this screenshot shows that I can open them.

Please note that I am using GNOME on my machine.

Here are my system details for this.
imagick 7:6.3.7.9.dfsg1-2ubuntu1
Hardy - Ubuntu 8.04.1

So in summary, I could recreate the problem for four of the 16 files and for
them, we can put the status to "confirmed".
I do not know how to resolve this issue, so may be someone would have to jump
in for that.
