Hi I am a Kubuntu 8.10 kde4 amd64 user. I have the same problem with okular then do not go to full-screen in presentation mode. I have got a nvidia video card and I has same problem with both open-source and restricted Nvidia drivers.
Workaround: I did install kpdf kde3 package from here https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/intrepid/+package/kpdf and libpoppler2 package from hardy (kubuntu 8.04 amd64 ).
