I have the same problem on my desktop's IDI-DVD ROM 6116 drive. However, the problem does not occur on that same desktop's TSSTcorp CD/DVDW SH-S182D drive. Nor does it occur on my laptop's HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4247 ATA drive or on my girlfriend's laptop's PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K14 drive. So it's definitely something with the drive...
