Public bug reported:
Though not sure if this is an actual bug or if its meant to be this way
(or if something can be done about it)... I have 3 laptops with Broadcom
4306 for wireless and I cannot connect to the internet out of the box.
There is nothing visible in the hardware driver section (on all laptops,
different models), and I do not have an extra wired connection
available.
To get my wireless working, I have to copy certain files over to the
lib/firmware/*-generic/. After this point, my wireless works and things
are fine, and only after this point, do I see Broadcom B43 Wireless
Driver (Not Activated) in my Hardware Drivers. Activating it does not
change anything, as at that point my wireless works already.
My questions, whether or not this is supposed to happen? On my laptops,
would I need to do this every time?
