Hello, I made the required tests on 8.10. As explained above, the out-of-the- box hardware manager for the atheros wifi card does not work. I downloaded a patched one and it worked quite well. I still have only one small problem related to the network. During the boot process, the system stops during about 2 minutes on the "Configurating network interfaces". If you are in a hurry, CTRL+ALT+DEL unblock the system and make it continue booting up the pc.
I consider that the new Ubuntu 8.10 solved the 1st Kernel Panic problem of this bug. I will open another for the new problem I encounter.
