Same Problem for me. I've tested it by creating a testuser, and it still doesn't work. Kate keeps replacing Tabs with 2 spaces (the length of spaces i have set in the Kate settings.). This is a _really_ annoying Problem.... With KDE3 Kate everything worked fine!
