I am also having the same issue. Thinkpad R50e, had the issue when I just did a distribution upgrade. I have since re-installed fresh from and 8.10 live cd. For me, I am getting a 'logout' back to the login screen, and a normal re-login thereafter. I have set the system to not require a password on X crash, and I get my network back, and Amarok reconnects to the radio station it was playing. This is happening as often as every ten minutes or so, but varies widely. I have not been able to note anything consistent about what was actually happening. It has done this without any input or other activity at all.
