Same error here on a desktop PC. I'm not sure, if it's fault of pulse- audio, but sometimes no sound is heard, and the cpu gets very slow.
When I check the processes with "top", I see that "artsd" is running like 100 times at same time. It looks like it is respawn somehow. After a while, my system hangs and I have to restart it. Killing all artsd processos doesn't work.
