** Please Note: REWORDED, SUBMITTED AS QUESTION **

My purpose is NOT to deemphasize the question: "Is this a bug?", at all.
That is, I do believe there is a "bug" here, perhaps-- at least
according to some general definitions of "software bug" i've seen
floating around-- and my own reasoning toward an educated judgment of
what is a "bug", and what is a "configuration difficulty", "dependency
problems", and other non-bug issues, which so often are submitted,
improperly, as a "bug".

The "Question", inspired by this issue, yet represents the issue from a
different angle-- as one where the User (myself) seeks assistance in a
"best workaround", to arrive at a working system-- even though the "bug"
persists.

Parts of the "bug report" (#298694)-- if not the entirety of this "bug",
(explained in the primary attachment above), I reworded/ re-presented as
appropriate for an entry under the Launchpad "Answers" / "Questions"
section.

Indeed, this very "bug" is now a "Question", albeit revealed under
different lighting, because i believe the "concern" may sensibly
coexist, and should be so redundant -- for learning purposes there-- for
tech purposes here.

I'm all ears for a general community opinion on this sort of approach. I
know "double-posting" is frowned upon, but unless disclosed as I have,
readers may never recognize it is bourne of one and the same User/
issue-- but merely [ the Realtek RTL8169/8110 Family Gigabit Ethernet
connectivity ] seems to be bothering a lot of users, in generally
similar circumstances as stated in attachment here.

blah, blah. thanks for your help! even if i don't see anyone else post
text here-- i know you're helping, behind the scenes. we know you are.
it's good stuff. it's a massive project, so vast in magnitude and
dynamics (i.e. Ubuntu, Xubuntu, Kubuntu, Newbs, Intermediates, etc.),
that anyone involved in maintaining a sense of communication, wherein
positive improvement is taking place-- those people are those who
deserve the thanks.

Regarding the benevolent volunteers, and others working in the "bug"
dept., please take a moment to revel in your successes-- for the changes
i can see between Xubu 7.G and Xubu 8.10 are substantial, at face value
(an important dynamic to this distro, i believe, so-- that's great!) --
it's going in a "direction where improvement is remarkable in each
subsequent release. it's because of the dedication of all of the "bug
squashers", so thanks to you, Ladies and Gents!

Cheerio!
