I do not believe this is a duplicate bug. The workarounds in the
duplicate do not work to solve the 'acpi: exiting' message and my
computer never completes the shutdown or reboot even if left alone for a
full day.
The linked duplicate bug can be "fixed" by linking the
/etc/init.d/NetworkManager to /etc/rc0.d/K40NetworkManager and
/etc/rc6.d/K40NetworkManager, but that does not eliminate the hang for
me - simply moves it past the ALSA issue.
I think this should be unmarked as duplicate.
