I don't know enough linux to get to, or understand or use the
/etc/default/apport;

Ok, I go to Ubuntu's applications, and guess to try tracker search tool?
  I know nothing of natulis or apport. There is a System Log viewer,
which shows: var/log/messages file, 4823 lines long.

Yes, I think, or hope that I have Ubuntu stable release, as it is
whatever Update manager brings in as updates. 8.04 and about 8 versions
as bootup selections. It lets me lag or avoid some of the problems I
read of, on the Orca and Ubuntu acessability, and blind linux lists
I let it use the latest only, but keep the others as don't know if I'd
loose something that is needed for the Dell 1420 to keep it's
place-info. I ONLY give the password for changes to the updater; and am
afraid to dive int the lower levels unless I have exact implicit
instructions, as have 50 years of mixed up computer os's in my 74 year
old brain.
