Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: audacity

Audacity works fine (most of the time) on my AMD64 Intrepid system,
using ALSA output to hw:0,0 (not alsa's default pcm, because that always
resamples to 48kHz!?)

I didn't expect this to work, but I used the "Split stereo track" track-
dropdown option while audacity was playing that track. (The left
channel was originally the left channel of a .wav on disk. The right
channel was originally the left channel of a truncated mp3. I sometimes
use audacity to use the LADSPA signal difference (IAMA) plugin to
subtract the audio of two tracks (after aligning them) to see if they
have the same audio...)

Anyway, after splitting, which succeeded, Audacity got all confused, and
stopped playing a few seconds later. It printed a bunch of messages, too:
Expected to read 77175 samples, got 69257 samples.
Expected to read 77175 samples, got 0 samples.

The main menus still have most things grayed out, like when audacity is
playing, so I'm guessing that some of its state variables still said it was
playing. The play button didn't do anything, nor did stop. Eventually it
segfaulted, after zooming in and out and selecting a region of a track.

So obviously Audacity just needs to grey out some of the per-track
drop-down actions, as well as the main menu stuff it already does, while
playing.
