Just pasting a response I received. I'll reply in the next comment: "Hi Leann,
I would like to run Intrepid on a Sony Vaio FW170J/W but before I decided to install it I saw where many people were having compatibility issues with Intrepid and that particular laptop. After scanning through some of the issues, it seems that the problem was Intrepid didn't support Intel 4 series chipsets. Please see the following link which describes the problems I found from other people http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=923817&page=1 The 2.6.27 kernel that you describe below...is that already in the latest release of Intrepid that is able to be downloaded? I wander if that will fix everyone's issue with the kind of laptop I have? Do you think that there may be another issue that could keep Intrepid from being compatible with my laptop?" -- Support needs to be added for Intel 4 series chipset https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/297820 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
