I've been having this problem for a while also. Has anyone else been messing with the compositing manager with metacity? I had it on, then after I turned it off, I began having the problems. I just turned it back on (took 3 tries logging on to get it working) and so far, no crashes. I will post in a few days if it remains fixed or not.
