I talked to someone on the fprint mailing list and apparently this isn't a DigitalPersona fingerprint reader, its "Validity" but they use digitalpersona software i've sent them logs from vista so they can start working on it but here is the relevant wiki page about it: http://www.reactivated.net/fprint/wiki/Unsupported_devices#Validity_VFS101
