I believe I'm suffering from the variant of this bug on kernel 2.6.27-7-generic with a Realtek RTL8111B on an ASUS P5B
During boot, just after Activating Swapfile Swap [OK], boot hangs, and must be restarted with control-alt-delete before it will move to Loading ACPI Modules....
