This bug was reported against Ubuntu 8.10. Segfaults in cupsd due to both pam_smbpass and apparmor being enabled are a known bug in the version of apparmor that shipped in Ubuntu 8.04 - but this was resolved in an update almost immediately after the 8.04 release. If you do not already have the hardy-updates repository enabled in System -> Administration -> Software Sources, you should.
