Binary package hint: passwd
This is an issue using the passwd command in Ubuntu 8.10
It covers the case where you, as the root user, tries to change a
password, but you fail to retype it correctly.
Passwd behaves correctly in it not actually changing the password. Stil,
it kind of says it does.
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# passwd
Enter new UNIX password:
Retype new UNIX password:
Sorry, passwords do not match
passwd: password updated successfully
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# passwd andreas
Enter new UNIX password:
Retype new UNIX password:
Sorry, passwords do not match
passwd: password updated successfully
This is not a problem if you run passwd a normal user.
(Still failing to retype the new password)
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ passwd
Changing password for andreas.
(current) UNIX password:
Enter new UNIX password:
Retype new UNIX password:
Sorry, passwords do not match
passwd: Authentication information cannot be recovered
passwd: password unchanged
