Well, maybe but there seems to be a problem with the daemon, when it is
stopped the icons then fully install, also only one change per session
works with 'screen resolution' - though a change in resolution which
does not apply is saved for the next session.
A colleague with 8.04 and 8.10 gets variations on this theme -
8.04 'screen resolution' not working with a complaint: the xserver does
not support the 'XRandR' extension. Run time resolution changes to 
display are not available.
8.10 - screen resolution change - only one allowed!

Does this suggest that the daemon is having problems?
