After looking into the problem, I'm convinced that my problem (with the
P5N32-SLI Premium mobo), is caused by a buggy BIOS. I also have the same
PCI bridge and NIC on another Asus motherboard, where it works
flawlessly (for small and large data transfers). I have submitted a
kernel patch where msi is turned off as default for the P5N32-SLI
Premium. The difference in behaviour suggests that the issue of theP5N-
MX mobo is different from the P5N32-SLI Premium issue. Sadly, I cannot
try to test and debug it since I don't have it. My advice is to submit
this issue as a new bug.
