to sum it up: - This bug has NOTHING to do with DKMS and kernel upgrades. - Ubuntu can NOT backport the fix to hardy/intrepid because the nvidia driver is not open source. - AFAIK Ubuntu won't provide the version 180 driver in "Intrepid proposed" due to Ubuntu's policy
so we have this options: 1. wait until Jaunty or 2. get an inofficial package from somewhere, or directly install it from nvidia.
