Same problem here, on a fresh install of intrepid, which I installed by saving the kernel and initrd images from http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/gutsy/main/installer- amd64/current/images/netboot/ubuntu-installer/amd64/ to a partition, installing grub using a live cd, and booting from the hard disk and instructing grub to load those images.
After rebooting into the newly installed system, X didn't react to keyboard or mouse input. Manually adding InputDevice lines to xorg.conf solved that. Then upon logging in, I got "HAL failed to initialize" (I assume the X keyboard and mouse problems was because of that). I then followed the same sequence of events as described above, and googling the "UUID file should contain..." message led me to this bug report. -- 8.10 rc candidate install: dbus machine-id file empty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/288596 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
