Public bug reported:
After upgrading to the Kernel 2.6.27-7-generic I lost the ability to
hear sound. I've been trying to tackle this problem on my own for a
while now with no avail. I've even gone to the lengths of reinstalling
8.10 and I no luck.
currently I'm using alsa 1.0.17
