I can confirm this problem exists also on my laptop with Intrepid
(updated from Hardy) and in my case it's not depending on the mismatched
UUID in fstab.

The swap is not mounted at all at boot time and running manually a "sudo swapon 
-a -e" wouldn't do anything either.
This is exactly the same command that is run by the mountall.sh script during 
startup and during boot  the error message says that no swap partitions could 
be found in fstab.

The only way I found to activate the swap is to run swapon manually
using the UUID identifier of the partition "sudo swapon -U 8189edab-
1fd5-49b9-abfb-6f616b7b27ea".
