Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Although this does not happen consistently, Rhythmbox has had a number
of complete freezeups when switching tracks. The UI becomes somewhat
"blanked out" (outlines of some elements are visible, but no text or
widgets), and sound output stops. The app becomes completely
unresponsive and has to be killed.

After relaunching Rhythmbox, attempting to play a track results in the
message "Couldn't start playback: failed to open output device." Some
other sound-capable apps are also affected: after such a crash, both VLC
and Totem lose audio capabilities, but others, for example, embedded
flash (e.g. YouTube) plays fine.

Running Jaunty (9.04) alpha 1.
