Public bug reported:
I upgraded ubuntu from 8.04 to 8.10 and the shut down button will close the
ubuntu screen and then go blank screen with curser at top left corner and stay
there for several minutes and then a message will appear (acpis-exiting) and
then it will shut down the PC ,other times it will stay there and not shut down
the PC and I will need to to do a manual hard shut down.
