Ok I read the page. All the devices are unmuted and the volume is turned up. My user has the required privileges for audio. I ran the alsa-info.sh script and this is the URL that it gave me: http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=4b13a9b02389cb0e6f05d86fbec9238de9be60c2 I'm also attaching the output of cat /proc/asound/cards. I'll try some of the other options now. As I said the sound only works when I have this line: options snd-hda-intel model=m51va in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base and only when the subsystem is set to be OSS with the aforementioned problems.
