The ubuntu-sounds package version is 0.10, dist is intrepid. Might add that even though this problem partly is due to stale defaults and an apparently hardcoded path in some Gnome daemon, it'd be good if ubuntu-sounds either ceased to conflict with gnome-audio, or provided all the sounds from the latter.
