Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: yelp
Using the Network Manager in ubuntu 8.10 to connect to both wired and
wireless connection manually will not work. When entering the netmask
"255.255.255.0" it will be saved as "24" only. The Network Manager will
show that you are connected, but you will not be able to surf nor
explore the internal network. As a work around, WICD can be used after
removing the Network Manager.
I am using "Ubuntu 8.10 - the Intrepid Ibex - released in October 2008."
