Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: cups

When trying to print on a Gnome application like "evince" or "gnome-
editor" on Ubuntu 8.10 and a network IPP printer is not present the
application freezes.

On my laptop I have 2 printers installed, one is located at home on
another Ubuntu 8.10 machine and is shared using the IPP protocol, the
other is located at the office on a Windows machine and is shared using
samba protocol.

When trying to print at home I'm successfull, the samba sharing doesn't
locks my application.

This error also occurs when I try to view the IPP printers properties on
the "system-config-printer" application.

Attached is my printers.conf, I only changed it to hide my network
password.

** Affects: cups (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
