More info, if it helps: -I used to experience the "blink" problem addressed in 164589. This no longer happens, so the setting certainly helped with that.
-When using my computer at work, where I use two external monitors, I have never had the screen garbage problem. It only happens when I am at home and running with the laptop screen alone.
